Memnto is a re-photography app. You pick a photo, it helps you take it again, and it keeps the frames together as a timeline.
Memnto has no account, no server, and collects nothing. We — the developer — never receive your photographs, your locations, your notes, or any information about how you use the app. There is nothing for us to see, because none of it is sent to us.
Your photographs. Memnto reads photos you choose from your photo library so you can recreate them, and saves each recreation into a “Memnto” album in your own Photos. Photos stay on your device and in your own iCloud. They are never uploaded to us.
Location. With your permission, Memnto reads the location stored inside your photos, and your current location, to work out how far you are from where an old photo was taken and which way to face. This is used on your device, in the moment. It is not transmitted anywhere.
Your words. Titles and notes you write are stored with the moment they belong to.
Your moments sync through your own private iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, Memnto uses Apple’s CloudKit private database to keep your collection consistent across your devices and to restore it on a new phone. That database belongs to your Apple Account. The developer cannot read it and has no access of any kind to its contents. If you would rather not sync, turn iCloud off for Memnto in Settings; the app keeps working locally.
Memnto does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Deleting a moment removes it and its stored images. Deleting the app removes everything held on the device. To remove synced data, delete Memnto’s data from iCloud in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Memnto ships with a few example photographs so the app isn’t empty when you first open it. These are public-domain and CC0 images from public archives, plus one AI-generated pair, and none of them are yours. They are labelled as examples and can be deleted.
